Thanks for this second patch, Andrew.

I've compiled the patch with the current "default" branch. The results from my
original acos calls are now fully Matlab compatible:

acos(1e7) = 0 + 16.81124i
acos(1e8) = 0 + 19.11383i 

I can also confirm that "make check" doesn throw any errors, now.
