Follow-up Comment #3, bug #47272 (project octave): OT: It sounds like the fminsearch function of the interval package could be of interest to you. http://octave.sourceforge.net/interval/function/@infsup/fminsearch.html It has an OutputFcn option (maybe the core fminsearch has as well) which can be used to gain information about the tested values.
