I tested the following in the just released Octave 4.2 and I see no unoccupied
space:
hf = figure ();
plot (1:10)
set (hf, "paperpositionmode", "auto")
set (hf, "position", [0 0 1000 400])
print /tmp/test2.png
Does this work for you? If so can you provide a script that shows the bug?
