Follow-up Comment #5, bug #49793 (project octave):
nargout doesn't work for built-in functions yet.
That this works:
function f () end
f || false
might be seen as a bug (it is apparently not the same as what Matlab does) so
someone might fix it and then your "fix" here won't work.
