Yes it would. --- I made a wrapper header for the core functions that change place and added a configure check. Seems to work for me, both 4.2.1 and development sources. http://hg.code.sf.net/p/octave/image/rev/742462d332ad I am not thinking of applying this to the stable branch since I hope that image 2.8 is out by the time 4.4 is out. I would also guess that anyone building octave from development sources should be also be building the image package from source and not installing the last release.
