Follow-up Comment #15, bug #51203 (project octave): @Markus: yes I'd appreciate cooperation. I knew the limitations of what is now implemented in the io package. Note that only some of the available spreadsheet I/O interfaces need conversion, the others do it OOTB. I've seen native2unicode and its sibling but they consistently give errors.
