Follow-up Comment #27, bug #51203 (project octave):
Andrey, that patch applies to the Mercurial repository of the io package.
Philip who is its maintainer might review and push it there.
Anyway - like I already wrote - the patch would help only with the current
development version of Octave which will eventually become version 4.4. You
could test that by cross compiling Octave for Windows.
