Results running current dev cf34392c9de9 tip @
on FC 26 x64:
1. run from build: 
./run-octave -f --no-gui
octave:1> ^Z^Z
[5]+  Stopped                 ./run-octave -f --no-gui

Same system installed:
octave -f --no-gui
