Follow-up Comment #28, bug #45610 (project octave):

I can confirm that the patch from comment #27 solves this issue (at least on
linux).

Here is what I did:
* I've compiled dev Octave (hg id 629858e122f1 with Torsten's patch)
* make check still passes (15839 Pass, 0 Fail, 5 Xfail expected, 31 Xfail
reported, 62 Skipped)
* I opened three different m-files in the GUI editor, with all possible line
endings.
* Then, I've marked several lines with the mouse and commented them via
Ctrl+R, and afterwards un-commented them with Shift+Ctrl+R. The number of
marked lines stayed constant. 
* For comparison, I've done the same with Octave 4.2.1 release, and with
Windows line endings, the number of marked text lines did NOT stay constant.

My tests have only been on a linux PC. I have NOT done any tests with an
mxe-octave on a Windows PC.
