Details:
Hello. My name is Ameen Ahmed and I am legally blind. I use a screen reader
called Jaws. I am an applied math major and I use Octave 4.2.1 in the command
prompt in my Numerical Analysis class. I did encountered an accessibility
issue with Octave 4.2.1 with Jaws in Windows 10 17-09. Every time I ran my
code through Octave in the command prompt, Jaws does not read back the results
and I have to manually have it read the results. This is very annoying that I
have to keep doing that. Most of the time when I ran my code using Octave in
Windows 10 17-03, Jaws reads back the results. I really don't want to have to
revert back to Windows 10 17-03, because I want to have the most up to date
operating system. I know that Octave is not fully tested with Windows 10, but
is there going to be a time when Octave is going to be tested fully on Windows
10? I know that Jaws is a paid software, but you can at least test Jaws in
the free 40 minute demo, with Octave in the command prompt and that would be
enough to test Jaws with Octave in the command prompt. I don't know if other
users use Octave with a screen reader, but it is at least worth trying Jaws in
the free 40 minute demo with Octave in the command prompt. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
