Follow-up Comment #10, bug #52685 (project octave): I suppose you could say it is a mess of inconsistency. Yes, my concern is mostly about the plaintext that is created when programmers use "help function_name". In LaTex there are many more ways to get the output to appear exactly as you want and I think it is fine to use @var{} in that context if it makes sense.
