Follow-up Comment #7, bug #53124 (project octave): Also: The 8.3 file names are used optionally only by NTFS file system. [1] If I remember correctly, I encountered a laptop with pre-installed Windows 10 Home where that option was turned of by default on the second hard drive partition (D:). If we rely on that feature, we could see errors on systems where it is turned off on the partition where Octave is installed.
