Follow-up Comment #37, bug #53151 (project octave):
Dear Carlo,
I guess this is a macOS bug. The test that contains
usejava ("awt")
in "ov-java.cc" makes macOS try to install the old and outdated Java 1.6. This
triggers a GUI dialog which craches because there is no graphical frontend
running.
I suggest to remove that test on macOS and mark it as a known failure.
