Follow-up Comment #4, bug #53370 (project octave):
Although this was already closed I want to add comment because I experienced
the same problem on Windows 10.
I used to start Octave 4.2.1 by running octave.bat. When switching to 4.2.2
this no longer worked. Error message is "This application has requested the
Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's
support team for more information."
However, starting Octave 4.2.2 with octave.vbs does work. So I looked for the
difference in the two scripts and found that the environment variables
"QT_PLUGIN_PATH" needs to be set which is not done in octave.bat. So if you
add the line
set QT_PLUGIN_PATH=%OCT_HOME%qt5\plugins
in octave.bat it will work again. Seems like this is needed in the new version
but the script was not updated. Maybe it is not used by many users.
Hope this helps,
Frank
