Follow-up Comment #19, bug #54245 (project octave):

I don't mind *not* being able to help ;)

But more seriously, without access to the logs it isn't really possible to
figure out why a particular recipe is failing.  A related informational
question: is there a simple way to tell which hg id was used for the Octave
sources?  I see that the hg id for the MXE Octave version used is available in
Build Properties or in the initial 'hg' step of the build process.
