Follow-up Comment #158, bug #54235 (project octave): Well this must be our lucky day! Last night I was finally able to successfully build gcc 5.5.0 using this: ./configure --disable-Werror --disable-checking --with-build-config=no But you're clearly the winner here with 7.3.0 and a more elegant build. The question now is how to sort all of this out. I have 4.9.2 in /opt/csw/, 5.5.0 in /usr/local, and you now have 7.3.0 in your local/bin.
