Follow-up Comment #1, bug #54398 (project octave): Confirmed. The file name that should be opened is passed to the editor with "\" in the path. The internal names of already opened files (also the titles in the tab bars) always us "/" as path separator. I do not know the cause for the different path separator strings, which most probably also prevent octave from finding the file in the current path.
