Follow-up Comment #21, bug #49247 (project octave):
As a comparison point, I attach a screenshot of how the figure created with
comment #8 is displayed with current Octave dev and Matlab R2018b on openSUSE
15.0.
One difference in behavior that I observe is that for checkbox and radiobutton
uicontrols, their state is changed whenever one clicks anywhere within them
with Matlab while one has to click on the text or the little square or circle
with Octave.
