Follow-up Comment #4, bug #55273 (project octave):

To be clear, I am still hoping for some more information from someone affected
by this bug.

The values of both HAVE_MKFIFO and REPLACE_MKFIFO from config.log. Both for a
previous version of Octave that worked (4.4.1? even earlier?) and the current
stable branch 5.0.1 that doesn't work.

It would also be helpful to confirm whether mkfifo.lo exists in the libgnu
build directory, both in a previous version of Octave where mkfifo worked and
in the current broken release.
