Follow-up Comment #10, bug #55033 (project octave):

You mentioned your OCT_LINK_DEPS on line 304 of mkoctfile.cc is empty. Does
that mean ...

MKOCTFILE_OCT_LINK_DEPS is not used by mkoctfile for Octave 5.0, and did not
exist for Octave 4.2.

Any idea which systems would have non-empty MKOCTFILE_OCT_LINK_DEPS and/or
OCT_LINK_DEPS? Would "libinterp/liboctinterp.la liboctave/liboctave.la" ever
be a valid for post install mkoctfile?
