Follow-up Comment #5, bug #55751 (project octave): The attached patch fixes the performance regression of scatter3 for me by completely skipping the co-planarity check if there won't be any faces or edges to draw. We are using svd's to check whether a set of points is in a plane. I am no expert in this field. If someone knows of a check with faster performance, any hint is welcome to improve this long term.
