Follow-up Comment #19, bug #36677 (project octave):

Thanks, Mike for the input. With that I am inclined to say that the function
is already working as expected now.

@Philip: Does the current behaviour of make_absolute_filename fit your use
case? Or would you need a function that canonicalizes file names of
non-existent files with absolute path?
