Follow-up Comment #44, bug #50025 (project octave):

I agree it is small. I think Dan proposed a working diff that turned out to be
fragile. Later adjustments and experiments brought it to its current state.

It requires the fprintf to stderr to function, which (imo) is an indication
that we don't know what is wrong or how to fix it properly.

So it is small, but not understood or proper.

Two additional patches are also needed for MacOS. They are attached to bug#
55268.

My impression is that our use of Qt is fragile on macOS.

If Pantxo's print_fbo2.patch doesn't cause problems for Linux or Windows, then
I'm happy to see it applied.

Carlo's open_kEClIYyW.patch is another example of a "short" / misunderstood
fix. If we submit one, maybe submit all. But that takes us down a slippery
slope.
