Follow-up Comment #18, bug #57044 (project octave):
In the attached patch, I opted for checking if the bootstrap script is in the
source tree. That file isn't in the distribution tarball.
IIRC, Mike uses a git repository for Octave. So checking for the ".hg"
directory might cause problems.
