Follow-up Comment #3, bug #57834 (project octave): Thanks for the responses. I was able to solve the problem by restoring the following file from McAfee Total Protection quarantine and adding it to the real-time scan exclusion list: "C:\Octave\Octave-5.2.0\mingw64\bin\libsqlite3-0.dll". The error dialogs showed up when I started Octave using the desktop shortcut which uses the octave.vbs script.
