Follow-up Comment #1:

I was able to confirm this on Windows 10 with 5.2.0.

Following the same steps on Debian doesn't crash, with several different
versions of Octave, so this looks Windows specific.

Anyone with a build of the version 6 or version 7 branches for Windows able to
test this?
