Follow-up Comment #1:

Confirmed.

This isn't particularly important so I lowered the priority and severity.

It is a really odd bug though.  Also, it only affects command-line functions. 
If I put the commands into a file called one_to_n.m and use type() then it
correctly retrieves the first line and prints only "varargout".
