Follow-up Comment #123, bug #57591 (project octave): On fedora there is a service that stores coredumps in its own directory (and writes a trace to syslog). I assume there is something similar available for debian, e.g.: https://manpages.debian.org/stretch/systemd-coredump/coredumpctl.1.en.html You'd still need to act fast if you want to get the trace since the executable gets wiped out too...
