Follow-up Comment #4:

I have updated the title and the category.

I had a look at the test for hgsave/hgload and at first sight the y-labels
positions mismatch: they are one or two pixels closer to the axes in the png
from the original figure than in the png from the reloaded figure. Hence the
test fails. I'll post a separate bug report about that.
