Follow-up Comment #9, bug #58299 (project octave):

I've put the three lines of comment #5 in my site-wide octaverc
(/usr/local/share/octave/site/m/startup/octaverc) and it works beautifully
with octave-6.0.93 and octave-7.0.0 n my Mageia system.
