Follow-up Comment #2, bug #59705 (project octave):
Using more than 2 indices for sparse matrices also appears to fail in Matlab,
but there's no reason for that if the additional indices are all either 1 or a
colon. So another way we could fix this is to allow x(i,j,:) to succeed for
sparse.
