Follow-up Comment #17, bug #59820 (project octave): The attached patch should allow to optionally disable compiling and linking the libraries with visibility attributes. After applying it, run the bootstrap script and configure with "--disable-lib-visibility". It would still be good if someone could check what we'd need to change to get Octave to compile with visibility attributes on Mac.
