Details:

Something has gone wrong in the last day or so. Changeset 29471:6806f7aa30c1
worked properly but now changeset 29478:e88444be8468 cannot locate any Octave
packages. Typing "ver" says "no packages installed". The file
$HOME/.octave_packages is still present and lists all the installed Octave
packages, and the package directory is still intact.
