Follow-up Comment #5, bug #60583 (project octave):

@Dmitri: The "latex" interpreter is disabled on your system, so it falls back
to "none". 

For some reason, Octave is unable to compile the test case (a single "?"). For
debugging I'd start with:


setenv ("OCTAVE_LATEX_DEBUG_FLAG", "1");
text ("interpreter", "latex");
