Follow-up Comment #7, bug #60620 (project octave):

Some of the responders report that expfit works fine as part of optim-1.6.0.

Please note that I am using optim-1.6.1 - not optim-1.6.0. I.e. this may be a
regression introduced in optim-1.6.1.
