Update of bug #43206 (project octave): Status: Fixed => Need Info Open/Closed: Closed => Open _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comment #20: Re-opened because of comment #18. According to comment #3, gzip 1.6 is required: - RHEL/CentOS 7 (2014 - 2024) https://centos.pkgs.org/7/centos-x86_64/gzip-1.5-10.el7.x86_64.rpm.html - Debian 9 "stretch" (2017 - 2022) has 1.6 https://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=sourcenames&keywords=gzip - Ubuntu 18.04 (2018 - 2023) has 1.6 https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/gzip Agree to comment #19. Waiting for the last oldtimer to upgrade his system is very luxurious (unpaid?) support. A warning might be sufficient. There are plenty of Octave container solutions available + compiling a newer gzip from source. In addition, the changes happen on Octave 7, which will be released next (or next next 😇) year. In 2022 RHEL 7 is even more stale than today. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?43206> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
