Follow-up Comment #9, bug #44799 (project octave):

So it sounds like, if spline is never expected to work (comment #7), and
MATLAB doesn't expect it to work (removing compatibility concerns), and it in
fact just throws an error, this should be fixed by editing imrotate to throw
an informative error when spline is requested and adjust the documentation
accordingly.
