Follow-up Comment #17, bug #61821 (project octave):

Thanks for finding the reason for this problem.  Longer term, I would like to
ensure that system dependencies like this do not affect the layout of Octave
classes.  I don't think we want to define things like
__MINGW_USE_VC5005_COMPAT in octave-config.h but instead see whether we can
hide time_t completely from the public interface for Octave classes.
