Follow-up Comment #3, bug #62417 (project octave):
I also notice that our documentation does not specify a function form for
format at all. Is that intentional?
it also seems matlab recently introduced a 'default' format to be an explicit
equivalent of format without any arguments, which currently causes an
'unrecognized format' error. (added as bug #62430)
