Follow-up Comment #3, bug #62984 (project octave):
Removing this user preference was a deliberate action as the background color
of the current line is now "interpolated" between the background and
foreground color in order to give a reasonable color regardless the back- and
foreground color the user has selected. Obviously, it does not always lead to
a reasonable color ...
The algorithm is in interpolate_color () in gui-utils.cc (comment in
gui-utils.h

@Philip: Which colors do you use as background and foreground in the editor?
