Follow-up Comment #2, bug #63553 (project octave):

I tried with a version from MXE Octave without stripped symbols.
However, it doesn't start.

In gdb:

IIUC, that means the virtual memory is exhausted.

Maybe, it's really time to give up on 32-bit...
