If I start Octave release candidate as follows:

$ octave -f --gui --experimental-terminal-widget

the GUI opens with the new command window activated. I just have to type 4
characters to see Octave crash:

free(): invalid pointer
fatal: caught signal Abandon -- stopping myself...
Abandon (core dumped)

I marked this bug as a "blocker" in the sense that I think Octave 8 cannot be
released with a nonfunctional (even if announced "experimental") terminal
widget.

I am pretty sure this used to work so it would be a regression from a few
month ago, when I tested during the Octave 8 development period.
