Follow-up Comment #20, bug #63803 (project octave): I pushed this changeset: http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/c82c5f7a1579 The octave::sys::file_ops::rename function does appear to handle non-ascii filenames, at least on Windows systems.
