Follow-up Comment #21, bug #63848 (project octave):

since mean has deviated quite a bit between stable and default, is there any
issue with just pushing a patch to stable to make the same effective change,
then doing an 'empty' merge to remove the extra head without actually merging
anything back to default?  or should the default changeset be backed out and
work from that direction?
