Octave 2.1.31 is now available for ftp from ftp.che.wisc.edu in the
directory /pub/octave/bleeding-edge along with a patch from the
previous version:

HDF5 files (requires that you have the HDF5 library installed
before running Octave's configure script).
* James R. Van Zandt's patches to support loading and saving Matlab
V5 binary datasets.
