I'm currently building the developers sources on MacOS 10.6.3 and am using Fink
for most dependencies.
I was unable to build using gcc 4.4.x. To compile the fortran parts, I used
gfortran for 4.2.1. I also recall someone reporting some success with g95.
In any event, I've attached my notes detailing what I did.
