disp([nan nan]) in emacs

I am not sure if this belongs here, but under emacs (octave-mode),
str = disp([nan nan]);
returns a 1x655 string which is hardly readable. Not so for numbers (e.g.
disp([pi pi]) etc.). In a normal terminal (and generally in 3.6) everything
is fine.
