You do not want to use trademark symbols unless you are the owner of the
product. The TM is legally quite meaningless and the (R) is for
registered trademarks that you want to enforce.

I notice that the current website doesn't have one, but should it have one of those  "MATLAB and __whatever else__ are trademarks of  The MathWorks, Inc., blah blah.  Octave is not affiliated with Mathworks ... something something..."
