Francesco,
private functions should be able to call other private functions in the same
directory,
this is the behaviour in Matlab and last time I checked was also working
correctly in
Octave development branch.
If you see a cas where this is NOT working prepare a minimal example
demonstrating this
behaviour and post it as a bug on the tracker.
