Hi Lakshay, 

please keep the octave-maintainers mailing list CC'd.

I don't think that you should wait for someone to tell you what to do, but you should start working on something you like.

Here you can find some tips and suggestions about how to approach the community [1]. Some projects in the list need to be updated from the last year.

There is also a list of short projects [2], which are useful to become more familiar with the community.
